I love a post I recently saw on Face Book “Proverbs 31 stresses me out”. I decided to look at a verse from this chapter and see what I could find for myself in the original Hebrew.

Proverbs 31:28 Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her.
The word “call” is not there originally and was put in by the translators.
The word for “children“- ” ben בָ֭נֶיהָ ” is the common word for “son” but can just as well mean daughter, foster children, grandchildren, pupils etc. In its essence, this word implies anything you produce, foster, build or create. Clearly it can be looked at in spiritual terms to represent any seed of purpose planted by God.
These seeds of purpose (children) are birthed through us in His timing and nurtured by His grace and wisdom. Along with natural children from the Lord, we can consider our ministry, or a song we write or a painting we paint or words we write… as “children” we birth.
The word is “rise” – ” qum קָ֣מוּ “  has the idea of flourishing, enduring, and remaining
The word ” bless“–  “ashar וַֽיְאַשְּׁר֑וּהָ” its primitive root means straight or to be level

 Looking at these two words I”m reminded of the verses Psalm 127:1 Unless the LORD builds the house… and Ephesians 2:20-22 having been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus Himself being the corner-stone, in whom the whole building, being fitted together, is growing into a holy temple in the Lord, in whom you also are being built together into a dwelling of God in the Spirit. 

The word Husband “Baal בַּ֝עְלָ֗הּ““ has two possible root words and does not have to be translated as husband. I’m going with the second option    עֹלָל which means to do over and over and has the idea of eternity. For me this speaks of eternal fruit (children) , fruit that remains John 15:16 Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.
Here’s the kicker: The word “Praise” is the Hebrew word ” halal וַֽיְהַֽלְלָֽהּl” and means to “shine”…only it is God’s light and His glory that causes us to shine. So in other words the fruit that gives God glory is the fruit produced “not by might, not by power but by His Spirit”! His purpose His plans His timing and by His grace, conceived in love!  Laura
